Prudence Peiffer is Director of Content. She joined MoMA in 2019 as Managing Editor of the Creative Team, after working as Digital Content Director at David Zwirner Gallery and Senior Editor at Artforum International magazine. Her book The Slip: The New York City Street That Changed American Art Forever (2023) won the New York City Book Award, was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, and was longlisted for the National Book Award, among other accolades. The Artists of Coenties Slip, a collection exhibition at MoMA based on the book, co-curated with Samantha Friedman and Rachel Remick, was on view from October 2024 to September 2025. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New York Review of Books, Artforum, and Bookforum, among other publications and exhibition catalogues. She holds a BA in the history of art from Yale University, a PhD in modern and contemporary art history from Harvard University, and a post-doctoral fellowship from Columbia University. She is the recipient of fellowships from Radcliffe and MacDowell, and an Andy Warhol Foundation Art Writers Grant.
