Lynda Zycherman is Conservator of Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art. She received a BA from the City College of New York, an MA in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and the Advanced Certificate in Art Conservation from the Conservation Center, Institute of Fine Arts. During her advanced training at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Freer Gallery of Art she specialized in the technical examination of ancient metals, especially the techniques of Chinese ceremonial bronze manufacture and hitherto uncharacterized artificial pigments. Zycherman made the 3,000-year leap from ancient technology to modern and contemporary sculpture in 1984, when she joined MoMA. Aside from her duties in preparing sculptures for exhibition and loan, she is best known for her detailed technical studies of metal sculpture by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Constantin Brâncuși, Alexander Calder, and Barnett Newman.
