Lizzie Gorfaine is the inaugural Director of Performance and Live Art at The Museum of Modern Art. She joined the Museum in 2009 as part of the Department of Media and Performance, spent four years in the curatorial department at MoMA PS1, and returned to MoMA as the first full-time Performance Producer in 2014. Throughout her tenure at the Museum, she has produced, along with her team, dozens of performances in the Museum’s exhibition program, including collection works, commissions, residencies, historical restagings, durational works, and premieres. She also oversees the production and calendar of the Marie-Josée and Henry Kravis Studio. Notable productions include works by Walid Raad, Pope.L, Yvonne Rainer, Trajal Harrell, Lucinda Childs, Simone Forti, Anne Teresa deKeersmaeker, and Tania Bruguera. Gorfaine received a bachelor of fine arts in photography from the School of Visual Performing Arts at Syracuse University.
