Lublin was born in Poland and raised in Argentina. Like other artists associated with the Instituto Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, Lublin moved from painting to immersive and participatory art in the 1960s. Dedans le musée/Pénétration d'images (In the Museum/Penetration of Images) was first presented in 1971 at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Santiago, Chile, where a wide range of images, from artworks to biological diagrams, were projected on the facade of the building and inside, on thick curtains of semitransparent material through which visitors were encouraged to walk. Three years later, at the Yvon Lambert Galerie in Paris, Lublin recreated the work with projections of artworks considered modernist masterpieces. She uses artworks as signs of cultural knowledge instead of as objects, re-presenting them in an attempt to create new connections between the images and the viewer.
