Changes from version 1, state I, by burnishing: woman’s bowl and man’s left hand removed.
Changes from version 1, state I, in drypoint: chair further delineated, feet added to table legs, and composition reinforced overall.

Background:

In the inscription on the verso of the second study illustrated in the Evolving Composition Diagram below, Bourgeois refers to Jean-Louis, one of her three sons.
