How well do you know your MoMA? Above are images of works from the MoMA collection that are currently on view throughout the Museum. If you think you can identify the artist, title, and location of each work, please submit your answers by leaving a comment on this post. We’ll provide the answers—along with some information about each work—next Friday, along with the next Do You Know Your MoMA? challenge.
ANSWERS TO LAST WEEK’S CHALLENGE:
So, looks like this week was challenging, but thanks to all of you who gave it your best shot. David Khukhashvili correctly identified all six artists, and in a moment of revisionist genius he pegged the third clue as Florine Stettheimer’s Family Portrait, II. The second runner up is Maria Scarpini, who got the first five artists, but missed Lee Bontecou as the sixth. Lauren, you were close but missed two of the clues!
1. Marcel Duchamp. The Passage from Virgin to Bride. July-August 1912
2.Joan Miró. The Birth of the World. Late summer-fall 1925
3. Florine Stettheimer. Family Portrait, II. 1933
4. Kazimir Malevich. Suprematist Composition: Airplane Flying. 1915 (dated on reverse 1914).
5. Andy Warhol. Cow Wallpaper. 1966.
6. Lee Bontecou. Untitled. 1980-98
