Roth made a series of accumulation books with different types of found material, which he gathered, trimmed to a uniform size, and bound: bok 3a from pages of a daily newspaper from Iceland (where Roth had a home); bok 3b and bok 3d, a later iteration of which is seen here, from die-cut pages from children’s comics and coloring books; and bok 3c from the makeready sheets used by commercial printers to prepare and align colors on the press before printing. These books were issued in small editions, but each volume is unique, as the contents were dictated by what was available in the printshop at the time.
