September 1937 - at least 1941, Pierre Matisse Gallery (from October 1935 on consignment, no. C.534, then stock no. 692), New York, purchased from Domenica Guillaume.
By 1943 - before 1954, Patricia Kane Matta [and Roberto Sebastián Matta Echaurren], New York, acquired from Pierre Matisse Gallery.
By 1954 - 1972, Patricia Kane Matisse (formerly Matta), New York, probably retained after her divorce from Roberto Sebastián Matta Echaurren.
1972 - 1978, Pierre Matisse, New York, inherited from his wife Patricia Kane Matisse.
1978, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, acquired as gift from Pierre Matisse in memory of Patricia Kane Matisse.
