Could the practice of comparing and contrasting prompt citizens to find commonalities among themselves, encouraging collective organization and, ultimately, political resistance? During Argentina’s extremely repressive military dictatorship of 1976–83, Venn diagrams were banned from being taught in primary schools. Here, the artist’s Venn diagram is activated by visitors: one spotlight illuminates when one person approaches the work, the other when additional people approach. When both lights are on, two interlocking circles of color appear on the facing wall.
