Puente lived in New York from 1968 to 1971 and made this installation during that period. It was presented in Information, a landmark 1970 exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art that featured Conceptual work by artists who challenged traditional notions of art. Todo vale. Colores primarios y secundarios llevados al blanco (Everything goes. Primary and secondary colors brought up to white) explores the idea of color as a self–contained system of production, comprising limited combinatory rules capable of producing an unlimited number of artistic objects. It consists of a series of objects containing pigments, liquid colors, shaped canvases, and modular sculptures, all of them similarly colored following a simple imperative: to bring primary and secondary colors to a whiter value.
