The Contemporary Arts Council is a vibrant community of patrons, philanthropists, collectors, and art enthusiasts committed to advancing contemporary art at The Museum of Modern Art. Established in 1949 by Mrs. John D. Rockefeller III as the Junior Council, the CAC is a forward-thinking group that contributes to cutting-edge acquisitions, exhibitions, and educational programs at MoMA and MoMA PS1. Since its inception, the Council has played a pivotal role in championing the Museum’s contemporary art program and engaging diverse audiences with the art of our time.
Today, the Council is recognized as one of MoMA’s most enduring and impactful advocates for contemporary art. Each season, CAC members enjoy an engaging agenda of two to three events per month. These include exclusive experiences such as artist studio visits, private collection tours, conversations with leading artists and curators, and private, curator-led tours of MoMA exhibitions. The CAC also offers an annual art travel program, providing unique opportunities for members to connect with MoMA’s international community of artists, institutions, collectors, and more.
In addition, CAC members are regularly invited to select exhibition opening receptions, performances, art fairs, and other special events, plus all benefits offered at the MoMA Contributor membership level. To learn more about membership benefits or to join the CAC, please contact Eloise Crist at (212) 708-9533 or [email protected].
