After his promising Hollywood career was cut short by the blacklist, Cy Endfield made a name for himself in England with the now unjustly forgotten B-movie Hell Drivers (1957)—a tough, tense thriller about ruthless competition and racketeering among haulage truck drivers—as well as with later films like Zulu (1964) and Sands of the Kalahari (1965). Hell Drivers, which was preserved by the bfi, London, is presented in a special weeklong run as part of To Save and Project.
