Claude Monet was as obsessed with his gardens as he was with his paintings. Join Ann Temkin, The Marie-Josée and Henry Kravis Chief Curator of Painting and Sculpture, for a talk exploring how Monet’s now-famous water lily pond and the other gardens on his property in Giverny were the product of his intense planning, extravagant care, and constant reinvention. Monet’s late paintings, which took these garden settings as their sole subject, reveal how two intertwined passions could produce what we now recognize as among the most revolutionary paintings of the 20th century.
