From ancient civilizations to modern times, beeswax candle making is a craft with an impressive history. Learn how to make beeswax candles during this live workshop. Participants will practice the traditional technique of hand dipping, repeatedly dipping a cotton wick into molten beeswax. The candle’s width increases as each new layer of wax solidifies. Materials will be provided. Please note: this activity involves working with hot wax.
Members can check in at the Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building, located at 4 West 54th Street, near Fifth Avenue. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the workshop.
