Leave No Trace. 2018. USA. Directed by Debra Granik. 109 min.
Will and his 13-year-old daughter Tom live in an immense urban park in Portland, Oregon. On the surface they seem like a tragic homeless family, but they choose to live outdoors and secluded. Their campsite is hidden, but well equipped with a stove, tents, dry blankets, and provisions. Will, a veteran suffering from PTSD, is wary of society because of their off-the-grid existence. A trifling mistake brings in the police and child services, uprooting the pair from their tranquil life outdoors and into the anxiety of the social welfare system. Ben Foster and Thomasin McKenzie are astonishingly credible as the struggling father and daughter. Courtesy of Bleecker Street
