Working from a home studio in Buckingham Gardens, New Jersey, for much of her career, Emily has made over twenty shorts, music videos and a feature, as well as creating animation for live-action films such as Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001). Her work addresses intimately personal themes of self-identity, loneliness, and familial communication from a socially-conscious perspective and is frequently scored by her sister, composer Georgia Hubley (Yo La Tengo). This program includes four examples of analog animation from the 1980’s and 90’s and nine titles demonstrating how seamlessly she adapted to digital filmmaking.
