In After the Earthquake, Lourdes Portillo and Nina Serrano follow a Nicaraguan immigrant in California who struggles to adapt and reconsiders her relationships in her intimate circle in the US. In Diario inacabado, Chilean director Marilú Mallet offers a first-person account of her life as an immigrant, wife, and mother of a French-speaking son in Canada with a moving portrait of exile and personal isolation. After being forced into exile in Finland following the CIA-sponsored military coup in Chile that brought Augusto Pinochet to power, Angelina Vázquez Riveiro builds a portrait of the country’s Chilean community in Dos años en Finlandia.
