Did you know that the MoMA collection galleries change seasonally, just as our temporary exhibitions do? To show our collection of almost 200,000 works of modern and contemporary art, MoMA’s galleries undergo frequent rotation, with new artworks installed nearly every day. This means almost every visit offers a new viewing experience from our collection.
Join Rachel Rosin, Curatorial Assistant in Drawings and Prints, Rachel Remick, Curatorial Assistant in Painting and Sculpture, and Lydia Mullin, Manager in Collections Galleries for a behind-the-scenes look into the gallery rotation process, including how curators select works and determine gallery themes. This special conversation will feature a presentation from our collections team, focusing on each collection floor at the Museum: 1880s to 1950; 1950 to 1980; and 1980 to today.
