Arthur Jafa’s pairing of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather: Part II and Andrei Tarkovsky’s Mirror uses the contrast between the films’ cultural contexts to generate conceptual friction. In particular for Jafa, the two films reflect the disparate postwar ideologies of the capitalist United States and communist Soviet Union.
Films will be screened with a ten-minute break in between.
