Kaj ti je deklica (Little Trouble Girls). 2025. Slovenia/Italy/Croatia/Serbia. Directed by Urška Djukić. Screenplay by Djukić, Maria Bohr. With Jara Sofija Ostan, Mina Švajger, Saša Tabaković. DCP courtesy Kino Lorber. In Slovenian; English subtitles. 100 min.
Shy and reserved 16-year-old Lucia joins her school’s all-girls choir and bonds with a fearless, expressive classmate who is in every way her polar opposite. The new friendship opens Lucia to an unfamiliar world of sense and sensibility. When their choir retreats to a remote convent for intensive rehearsals, Lucia begins to grapple with the tension between her Catholic faith and her burgeoning sexuality. Seductive and bold, Slovenian director Urška Djukić’s feature debut, winner of the FIPRESCI award at this year’s Berlinale, is an unflinching portrait of coming-of-age awakening.
