This UNIQLO Family Day will draw inspiration from the exhibition Ruth Asawa: A Retrospective. Families are invited to explore Asawa’s art and process through art making, movement, readings, and more.
- Get to know artist Ruth Asawa through interactive readings offered throughout the day.
- Enjoy Asawa-inspired art-making:
Stamp with fruits and veggies as you explore shapes and repetition.
Arrange shapes as you explore pattern, light, and shadow.
Experiment with wires to make three-dimensional creations.
Add a self-portrait or an object you saw at MoMA to a relief sculpture.
Learn paper-folding techniques to make your own creations. - Join the Mark Morris Dance Group for workshops inspired by the shapes, movement, and rhythm of Asawa’s art at 11:45 a.m. and 12:30, 2:30, 3:15 and 4:00 p.m.
- Sketch the shapes and shadows of Asawa’s sculptures, and draw inspiration from her art to draw your own bouquet of flowers and plants.
- Read books, play games, or unwind between activities in our Family Day lounge.
Most activities take place from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and are best for families with children ages three to 10, with options that older kids, teens, and adults can also enjoy.
UNIQLO Family Day is free and includes admission to the Museum. Advance registration is required. Scroll down to see available entry times.
