*Artist, Cai Guo Qiang: I was looking for a boat, and the local fishermen informed me that there was one mostly covered by mud near the shore. So I went there with the fishermen and many assistants, and we waited until the tide receded, and they helped me dig it out of the mire. After the boat was excavated, I wanted to expose the beauty of its structure. So we cleaned it and removed the hull.

Then we made three thousand arrows. When we were about to exhibit it at PS1 Contemporary Art Center for the first time, my technical director wanted me to draw a design for the angle of each and every arrow. I said it was impossible. After we debated for a long time, I invited all the security officers to join us. I told them, "Imagine you're attacked by some enemies with these arrows. And now please place these arrows for me." So it was the security officers who helped me pierce all the arrows into the boat.
