ANNE COLLIER: I became interested in making images about things in my studio that were directly referencing photography in a self-reflexive way.

EVA RESPINI:
This work features a photograph of the artist’s own eye being sliced in half. Anne Collier.

ANNE COLLIER:
I had this really beautiful paper cutter and I wanted to make an image with it. I was tryin' to think about something cinematic and surreal, but that was also quite technical. An eye is looking back at you as you're looking at something, that's also about making things and about looking at things.

In my life I think go back and forth between things seeming funny and ridiculous and then terrifying and anxiety (Laughs) provoking. So that just has to come out, you know?
